Timeline: Steps 1-5 are largely completed in the first 3 sessions. Steps 6 & 7 take as long as it takes to achieve success!
Step 1: Goals. It is hard to finish a race if we don't know where the finish line is! With life coaching, we focus on rapidly achieving your deeply desired goals for family, business, relationships, and life. The more clearly defined your goals, the more efficiently we can move toward them. *If you have a hard time listing your precise goals, that is perfectly okay... figuring out what we want in life is a perfectly valid goal that coaching can assist with.
Step 2: Personal strengths & resources. Many people already have the skills and resources to achieve their goals in life; they may simply benefit from some helpful organization, problem solving, pertinent educational info, accountability partnering, and positive encouragement.
Step 3: Obstacles. Together we list the specific obstacles to successfully achieving our goals: financial obstacles, lack of specific skills, family dysfunction, medical issues, lack of key insights, etc. Once we identify the specific obstacle, we then brainstorm a game plan to directly address each obstacle.
Step 4: Trauma-specific obstacles. This is where professional insights go a REALLY LONG WAY!! Once you become specifically aware of precisely how any childhood struggles may be currently (and subconsciously) impacting your adult functioning, you instantly become more capable of making meaningful change in your life and more capable of deep healing.
Step 5: Game plan for success! With our lists of goals, strengths, obstacles, and trauma insights, together we discuss optional game plans that fit your specific situation. Once you select a game plan, we then break it down into tiny increments to get started!
Step 6: Action, experimentation, and refinement. Action time! We repeatedly engage in 3 main activities: discuss relevant educational insights, practice skills building activities, and refine your game plan. As you implement the game plan into your life between sessions, we evaluate in session how it is going and then make appropriate changes to optimize your progress. Experiment. Debrief and refine. Experiment. Repeat... until mission accomplished!
Step 7: Mission accomplished! Psychotherapy is often a years' long process of diagnosing and treating mental health symptoms while exploring one's inner psyche. And when you achieve your goals and our original mission is accomplished, you have two choices: level up with new goals or proudly graduate!
